The invention relates to a device for the fluid-tight closure of building openings, tank openings, air-lock openings or the like, for example for retaining contaminated extinguishing water, having a shut-off element which can be introduced between two spaced-apart receiving means and can be fixed in a sealing position by means of a locking device. In order to achieve secure and rapid closure of the respective opening in the event of danger, the locking device exhibits, in the end-side regions of the shut-off element, in each case at least one bolt which can move between an open position and a closed position and which is designed in order, in the closed position, to exert, in interaction with an associated engagement opening on the respective receiving means, a lateral and essentially vertically downwardly directed sealing force on the shut-off element. Preferably, the bolts can be displaced between the open position and the closed position, essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shut-off element, and assume, in the open position, a position which is arranged upwardly and laterally offset relative to the respectively associated engagement opening, with insertion slopes formed in the region of the bolt ends.
