The simultaneous operation of several units for the prevention of dazzle caused by incoming vehicles using headlamps with main beam or weather conditions is carried out by a reciprocal frequency and phase synchronisation, so that the light pulses of the meeting headlamps respectively dip in the closing time of the optical shutter. A conventional flashlight stroboscope with xenon flashlamp and corresp. reflector optic can be used as the light source, and as shutter an optical modulator based on an electro-optic ceramic. USE/ADVANTAGE - Method for preventing dazzle when vehicles using headlamps on main beam meet or run into unfavourable weather conditions. Ensures redn. of dazzle even if oncoming drivers do not dip headlamps.
