The mixt. of lacquer sludge and water is collected in a receiving vessel under the painting booth. A movement of the mixt. at or just below its surface is caused, and in the neighbourhood of this motion the mixt. is withdrawn through an open-topped outlet funnel. The top edge of the funnel is rectangular or circular and has a serrated or indeneted shape and is positioned about 1 cm below the liq. surface. The liq. in the lower part of the receiving vessel is kept in circulation by a pump. The mixt. passes from the outlet funnel to a separating system, and the return water flow from this system, as well as the flow produced by the circulating pump, are directed so as to produce a flow of the liq. in the receiving vessel towards the outlet funnel. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in spray painting or lacquering booths having walls which are kept clean by a flow of water or a water curtain. A simple, effective, and economical means of withdrawing the mixture of water and sludge collected below the booth is provided.
