Recycling scrap plastics into sheeting - by mixing primarily ground thermoplastic waste with universal chemical modifier and glass fabric before processing into continuous sheet

Light-weight scrap plastic materials and/or elastomers are recycled by converting into technically reusable material and into mouldable plastic sheets in particular. A universally applicable chemical polymer modifier enables non-compatible plastic materials to be crosslinked and to use a continuous process in which the material is reinforced with glass mat, fabric or non-orientated fibres. The process minimises any effect on the mechanical properties of sheets produced where impurities are present which can not be bonded chemically by the polymer modifier concerned. ADVANTAGE - The method widens the range of application for universal polymer and modifier and contaminated scrap material; it minimises the effects of contamination.
