A framework for an electrical switching enclosure constructed from pre-formed hollow metal sections (11) provided with rows of fixing holes and indents (14,15,16,20,21,22) is additionally provided with a U shaped support rail (3) which serves as a bearer for door hinge fitments (26,30). A similar rail (3) on the opposite side of the enclosure enables a door locking mechanism (not shown) to be fitted. The rail (3) is appropriately slotted to receive the hinges (27,30), but otherwise masks off all front facing holes. The hinge support brackets (26) are fixed by screws (32) with provision for enclosure sealing via packings in edge groove (35) and strip (28). USE/ADVANTAGE - Provides sturdy enclosure with wider ranging facilities for internal compartmenting and component insertion. The door/hinge design permits wide opening and neat frontal aspect. Multiple units are readily banked together.
