Corner joints in seals for vehicles - made in PVC profile plus rubber section by cutting mitres between bonded lengths, bonding corners, and welding together unbonded parts

Corner joints for use in seals on vehicles are produced from seals of a profiled thermoplastic substrate with stiffening reinforcement and a rubber sealing section which is bonded on. This bond is interrupted in parts; the mitre cuts for the corners are made in the interrupted areas and are suitably bonded together separately; the non-bonded parts of the substrate and seal are fixed together up to the corners. Prefd. materials are PVC for the profiled substrate and ethylene-propylene-terpolymer or foamed rubber for the sealing section. ADVANTAGE - The method produces corners with high strength bonds which withstand temp. differences.
