The optical lens (2) is coupled behind the laser (1) in a presettable spacing (d), with both components lying on an optical axis (6). The dependence of the quality of the coupled system of the laser resonator and the lens reflecting surface (3) is detected and evaluated. At a constant laser pumping output, the laser output is measured as a quality rate of the coupled resonator system, with it dependence on the mutual spacing detected and evaluated. The measuring and positioning system contains a photodetector (7), sync. demodulator (9), oscillator (13), signal evaluation (10), summation stage (11), and laser exciter (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - Optical telecommunications systems, with precise adjustment in regions smaller than laser light wavelength.
