The microphone has a piston, one face of which is exposed to the acoustic signal and provided with an oscillation sensor for detecting the oscillations of the piston. The piston (1,1') surfaces carry two or more oscillation sensors (4,4') allowing the rocking movement of the piston to be measured in order to detect sound wavelengths smaller than the dimensions of the piston. The opposite-lying faces (1,1a,1') of the microphone are coupled together along their enclosure edges with the sensors (4,4') connected directly to the inner faces of the piston surfaces. USE - Detection of a sound source, i.e. long wavelength sound sources, wind speed and flow-rate measurement for search planes.
