The inner surface of an armoured vehicle is divided into a series of rectangular areas. With the vehicle in an isotropic radiation field and with two radiation detectors placed within the vehicle a plate, of radiation resistant material is moved from area to area to assess the position where it causes the maximum decrease in radiation on the detectors. The plate is adhered in this place and the process repeated throughout the vehicle. One or multiple layers may be used to bring the radiation to required levels. USE/ADVANTAGE - For calculation of shielding against atomic blasts for the electronics and crew area within an armoured vehicle. Decreases the total weight of the shielding and increases space within the crew room of an armoured vehicle.
