An instantaneous flow water heater consists of a hollow casing, made of insulating material and with a rectangular cross-section which is traversed, e.g. by three parallel meandering passages. The heating is effected by heating resistance tracks imprinted on the insulator material surface by a thick-film technique to suit the pattern of the fluid passages. A ceramic casing (10) which can be produced by extrusion, pref. from cordierite, has three parallel passages (11') for the fluid which are joined in series and with an inlet and outlet (arrows). Three heating elements (7') are applied as thick film resistors by a thick-film technique. ADVANTAGE - Has very high efficiency, yet it can be produced simply and at low cost.
