Flange seal for pipework in nuclear and no-go areas - has metal free carbon seals in carrier, clipped to remote controlled free flange for ease of assembly to fixed flange

Flange seal, for remote handling, has seals (3) in cut-outs in a seal carrier (1). A bush (4) is located in the inside of the seal (3). The seal (3) pref. protrudes on each side of the carrier (1) and is pref. made of permanent elastic pure carbon foil, without metal inclusions. Pref. the seal carrier (1) has at least two clamps (5) pref. for attachment to remote controlled flange (9). USE/ADVANTAGE: For single or multi-bore flanges in no-go areas for human service where remote manipulation is necessary for assembly; e.g. nuclear installations. Permanent elesticity, good compressability, spring rate and radiation resistance. Leaves no traces on flanges after removal and has good tolerance to low and unequal pressure loads.
