The brake master cylinder, esp. for vehicles, includes a servo piston (7) and servo chamber (5). The servo chamber is connected to either the brake fluid reservoir (19) or to a pressure source (11), depending on the position of a brake pressure control valve (27), actuated by the brake pedal. An intermediate piston (3), borne against a pressure piston (8), transmits the hydraulic brake reaction force to the latter. The areas of the pressure and intermediate pistons are so chosen that should either brake circuit fail, the servo assistance increases. USE/ADVANTAGE - Greater servo assistance on failure of a brake circuit.
