The non-return valve (1) has a valve seating (4) in a housing (2). The seating has a spherical closure-piece (8) which runs in a hole (5) coaxially with the seating (4). A spring (10) presses the ball (8) against the valve seating (4). A support (9) moves longitudinally against the force of the spring (10) in the housing (2) bore (5), and has a cavity (13) taking the ball (8) on the side of the valve seating. Around the support (9) is a collar-shaped end section (17) enclosing the ball (8) at least roughly to form a large circle (18). USE/ADVANTAGE - The valve is quickly opened, and noise reduced, by the pressurised medium flowing over the free ball surface and the collar-shaped end section.
