An expanding element is described fora fastening a conveyor belt support roller (1) to a fixed axis attached to side cheeks (2). An axle formed of a plug (3) carries an expanding element (9) having an extension (10) with longitudinal slots (12). The extension (10) extends into the support roller (1) and has at least one expander (20) which by means of a screw (24) and opposing conical surfaces (14), applies a radical force to an expanding ring (13) and hence to the roller (1) inner surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Clamping of conveyor belt rollers onto an axle with side cheeks. More economical and can be used with rollers with large tolerances.
