Rapid sensor system for welding process - esp. for visualising droplet transfer in pulsed arcs

A sensor system for detecting welding processes, esp. droplet transfer in pulsed arcs, comprises a television camera (10), positioned behind a rapid shutter (11) which is opened by arc voltage excursions, and a computer system (12) which processes the camera image to form a standardised television signal for feeding to a video recorder (14) and/or display screen (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - The sensor system is useful in MIG/MAG pulsed arc welding for visualisation of droplet transfer. It is inexpensive, provides detailed precision monitoring of the welding process and allows simple optimisation of parameters.
