Freezing and displaying flow shapes e.g. for gas bubble investigation - using liquid suddenly converted to quasi-solid state by pressure increase and held in that state by temp. reduction
High-speed freezing and visually displaying of flow shapes resulting from the interaction of liquids and the systems carrying them involves using a liquid which changes suddenly into a quasi-solid form under press. The liquid is brought into the quasi-solid state by applying press. The temp. is reduced to preserve the quasi-solid state when the press. is removed. The guide system can be fully or partially removed for observation. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for investigating bubble formation, distribution, ect. in pipes and valves operated at very high pressure. Expensive real systems can be replaced by special removable parts.
