The invention relates to an identification marking system and a process for creating the markings partic. in armoured vehicles. Markings are said to be difficult to falsify and allow numbers of vehicles to be assessed in accordance with arms treaties. Markings are created by a mixt. of at least three components, namely iron oxide, aluminium and a third material with a higher m.pt. than the first two components. The mixt. is fired and cast into the armour olating. After cooling an acoustic holographic recording of the component parts is made with ultrasonic equipment and electronically stored. USE/ADVANTAGE - Partic. used for marking armoured vehicles to ensure that numbers conform to armaments agreements. Falsification of the marks is difficult.
