Reducing extra-large sizes of tyre - by mounting vertically, forcing cutters to cut out rectangle, revolving half turn and repeating

Used tyres, and partic. very large sizes, are disintegrated by mounting each tyre on its i.d. so that it can turn, cutting a large slot radially out of its o.d. by its sidewalls and radially further out than its i.d.; the tyre is then turned through 180 deg. and a similar large slot is again cut out; a number of such pairs of slots are made until only loose rings remain. The tyre (19) is held by an overhead system (28) so that the tyre rests on rollers (30) on one or both sides by the rim; the tyre is lifted by the system and taken to the cutting station between two serrated cutters. The tyre is positioned so that its inner dia. (31) remains just above the holder as shown. ADVANTAGE - The method is the first to disintegrate large size tyres economically. It uses simple and inexpensive equipment.
