A device on a sheet printing machine (1), by means of which test sheets for a sample or control sheets for quality control can be randomly selected during the printing run, can be identified as such and can be delivered in the deliverer (5) such that they can be differentiated from the other sheets. A printing unit (11) in the region of the feeder (3, 3') identifies the sheets as being those selected by the control device (6) as test or control sheets.
