The flagpole has an external hoisting mechanism with a rope in two falls, reeved round a top pulley on it, and secured by a lock at the bottom. Both falls of the rope (13) are reeved at the bottom round a non-rotating disc (23) permanently spring-loaded downwards. The disc is mounted (22) in a lever (20) held in a vertical position against the pole (10), and swung out on a pivot pin at its top end to release the rope after unlocking. USE/ADVANTAGE - External hoisting system on flaghole keeps rope fulls taut in spite of variations in temp.
