An electromagnetic drive (1) acts on a rotary stepping switch with a square shaft (4), by means of a lever (2) with spring bias (21). At each step one auxiliary contact (8) slides along a track (7) until the current path to the electromagnetic coil (16) is interrupted, and another auxiliary contact (9) is brought to bear upon the track, permitting another switching operation with the key connected to a terminal (23). ADVANTAGES - Compact, consuming little energy without lasting losses allows coupling of supplementary protective switches, and gives an unambiguous indication of switch position at central station.
