Prepns. contg. Bumetanid contain pellets, each with a suitable coating which ensures that 30% of pellets, release the active ingredient immediately and that remaining pellets give prolonged release of active ingredient so that the pellets release (a) not more than 30% during 1/4 hr in a buffer soln. of pH 1; (b) 50-55 % after 2 hrs. in a buffer soln. of pH 5.8; and (c) up to 80% after the 4th hr. and more than 85% (practically quantitative) after the 6th hr. in a buffer soln. of pH 7.5. USE/ADVANTAGE - The pellets can be used in the long-term treatment of hypertonia, and avoid the unpleasant diuresis peak usually experienced by patients shortly after taking Bumetanid. The pellets enable small doses of Bumetanid to be used, giving the same therapeutic effect achieved normally with 2-3 times the dose.
