The thermal protection for a flame cutter, powered by an arc and oxygen, has a filling zone (11) sepd. from the ring zone (14) by a diaphragm (2) with the electrode wire (5) passing through a passage opening (16) in it. The fluid connection (8) opens into the filling zone. A compression zone (13) connected to the filling zone through the jet channel (15), has an outlet opening (9) for the fluid, but is otherwise enclosed. ADVANTAGE - The thermal protection is integrated into the flame cutter, and prevents overload at the flow contact jet as fluid flows constantly round it to allow an intensive cooling action, which can be controlled according to current conditions.
