Inflatable aerofoil for para glider - is divided into cells with majority of cells fitted with non-return valve

The para-glider used for sport has a rigid aerofoil which is divided into separate cells which can be inflated to provide the required rigidity. At least one cell has a permanent opening (2) in its leading edge. All the cells have openings (3) in their side walls so that ram air which flows through the opening can flow through these openings to inflate all the cells. The majority of the cells have non-return valves formed by flaps (1) fitted near the leading edge. These flaps open automatically when the pressure inside the associated cell falls below the ram air pressure. USE - Para-gliders.
