De-watering very dilute materials e.g. liquid manure etc. - by agglomeration and sedimentation while liq. flows in thin layer over suitable surface and is then filtered using porous rubber membrane
In a procedure for de-watering very liq. sludges etc. using flocculation and liq./solid sepn., the sepn. and agglomeration take place at least in part while the fluid flows under gravity in a thin layer over a suitable surface, and the solid material is then filtered or de-watered, especially by the use of a fine-pored rubber filter membrane. Filtering out of agglomerated particles may take place during the thin-layer flow process. The material being handled is treated by aeration, chemical reagents and/or radiation, possibly followed by treatment by sound waves or mechanical agitation, before entering the separation stage. USE/ADVANTAGE - This method comprises a procedure and a device for de-watering suspensions of very high moisture content, such a waste waters, liq. manure, dilute sludges etc. in which the material undergoes an agglomeration promoting pre-treatment and a final liq./solid sepn. stage. The proposed procedure increases the rate of sepn. and the effectiveness of the sepn. process.
