The kitchen base unit allows the work surface height to be adjusted for each individual. The height adjustment can be effected via a electric setting motor, or hydraulically or pneumatically against the force of a spring, e.g. a gas spring, or mechanically via a manual setting crank. Pref. the work surface height can be adjusted over a setting range of about 30 cm via a U-shaped carrier frame (11) attached to a vertical strut (15) at either side which is displaced within a vertical guide sleeve (16) via an electric motor supplied via a transformer. -
