The skip is suspended at the ends by lifting chains from an overhead hanger conveyor in an underground mine. Each end wall has on the outside a top and bottom pivoting eye, for engagement by lifting and tipping chains. The axes of the bottom eyes slope upwards and outwards, while a channel between them accommodates the tipping chain. The chain channel (23) is formed below a lug extending from its bottom and over the space (32) through which the chain is pulled. A support (31) on the lug encloses this space on the underside.
