Two motors (5, 6) with orthogonal drive shafts (4, 3) are provided for wireless remote control of the direction of a lamp mounted on a U-shaped support (2). Encoded commands are transmitted by infrared beam from a portable keypad (7) to a receiver (10) on a circuit board (9) within each limb of the U. Each receiver (10) is covered by an infrared-transparent thermoplastic cap (15) with an upturned rim which is engaged in an opening in a flattened portion of the limb.
