Fabric workpiece movement - has pivot bearing on a guide arm fixed to a further guide arm to give sliding on two axes with workpiece rotation
The guide mechanism to move an appts. round a contoured outline such as for sewing, basting or cutting textile workpieces, has a pivot bearing between the grip and the guide arm. A curved contour is achieved by a combined sliding action in the X- and Y-directions with a simultaneous rotation of the grip round the pivot bearing. The magnitude and the positioning of the sliding and swing movements are controlled by a programmable microprocessor. Pref. the pivot bearing has a rotary drive with its housing secured to the guide arm, and its drive shaft mounted to the grip. The pivot bearing assembly with the grip slides on a horizontal guide arm which slides horizontally at right angles to the sliding direction of the grip on a second horizontal guide arm. Spindle motors, or toothed belt drives, give the sliding movement of the grip in relation to the first guide arm and the sliding movement of the guide arm in relation to the second arm. The setting motor gives the swing movement to the grip. One guide arm is dimensioned to transfer the material from the entry to the delivery stations. A further short guide arm to carry the pivot bearing can be fitted to the first guide arm, at right angles to it and with a sliding movement. The microprocessor determines the working speed of the sewing, basting or cutting machine synchronised with the advance speed of the workpiece. The appts. is a self-standing assembly next to the sewing, basting or cutting machine. ADVANTAGE - The loading on the connecting cables is reduced, through the workpiece rotation and, at the same time, the working cycle times are reduced.
