Appts. produces phthalamide by reaction between phthalic anhydride and urea in Mol ratio of 2:1 in a single stage process reactor. The prods. are metered into a twin-rotor helical screw mixer at a temp. of 120-130 deg.C. Mixer ahs compression zone where temp. is 140-150 deg.C and pressure is up to 10 bar, and a fusing and reaciton zone where temp. is 150-200 deg.C. ADVANTAGE - Phthalamide is produced in single stage reactor. Higher rate of conversion is achieved at relatively low temperatures.
