Computerised digital signal processing with residual value storage - compensating differences in data bit capacity between digitiser and modulator flanking signal processing calculator

The signal from a pressure transducer (10) is digitised (11) and processed (12) for use in prodn. (14) of a pulse-width-modulated control signal for e.g. a proportional valve (15). The different data bit capacities of elements (11,12,14) in the processing chain are compensated by residual value correction using additional memories (16,18) before and after the calculator (12). The residual values which cannot be processed in the less capacious equipment are accumulated in storage and added up to improve precision. USE/ADVANTAGE - In e.g. hydraulic systems. Precision of resoln. increased with equipment of smaller data bit capacity.
