The operating temperature of a forging furnace, or a heat treatment furnace or a brazing furnace, is increased without using any additional fuel. The flue gases from the furnace are directed through a heat exchanger which heats the combustion air flowing to the furnace. This heating of the combustion air raises the combustion temperature of the furnace without burning extra fuel. The flue gases flow through the heat exchanger by natural convection but the incoming combustion air is supplied from a fan or compressor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Energy saving.
