The microphone consists of a handle (1), forming its housing, an inserted transducer capsule (2), and a head protective grill (3). In operation, the user can mechanically adjust the spacing (5) between the transducer capsule and the grill sound inlet aperture. Pref. the spacing variation is carried and by a relative motion of the grill and handle. The variation of the capsule and sound inlet aperture may be carried out by a shift of the capsule within the handle in the housing, formed by the latter and the head grill.
