The arrangement has a picture signal amplifier which has variable amplification and whose input signal polarity can be switched from positive to negative or vice versa. Also, different reference potentials are provided for the amplified picture signals. The reference potential for positive polarity is changed with the amplification of the picture signal amplifier (11, 12) in such a way that a certain maximum input voltage increase produces always an output voltage increase until the reference potential for negative polarity is reached. -
