Roller loader whose machine body is guided on rails of a longwall conveyor system (3), has the novelty of a roller support arm (5) inside which is a drive train extending from a drive wheel of a motor (8). An intermediary shaft connected to the drive train runs parallel to the swivel axis of the arm (5) and has its drive end engaged via gearing in the drive shaft of an auxiliary roller (18). The intermediary shaft extends from the roller support arm (5) and is coupled to gearing in a self-contained transmission housing which is fixed releasably to the roller support arm (5). The other end of the gearing is coupled to the drive shaft of the auxiliary roller (18). USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in longwall working, the provision of an auxiliary roller on the front end of the roller loader pulverises coarse debris in order to counteract possible blockages of the machine gantry.
