The viscous coupling has a housing (2) in which two hubs (7,8) are mounted independently of each other. Each hub (7,8) has longitudinal serrations to receive discs (19) which alternate with discs (18) which have external serrations which engage serrations in the bore of the housing. The interior of the housing (2) is divided into two compartments (14,15) by a transverse wall (13). A small hole in the wall is fitted with a throttling device to control the rate of the flow of the viscous fluid from one compartment to the other. USE - Viscous couplings in vehicle transmission.
