Prefabricated chimney for simple, rapid on-site assembly - has inner metal tubes butted at ends with elastic phenol resin cover clamped round butt joints

Prefrabricated chimney, with an inner cross section to carry gas and external thermal insulation, has smooth inner gas guide tubes, which butt together at their ends. A tube joint covers the butt point (3) between two tubes, clamped in place, with a cover to contain the heat. Pref. the inner tubes are of metal, esp. steel tubes (1, 2), or they are ceramic tubes. The axial covering at the butt (3) bridges the zone between two adjacent tubes, with longitudinal divisions, which are screwed at the ends to compress their dias. The butt cladding is of an elastic material, which can be distorted, in a sealing body (7) with rotational symmetry, of a material corresp. to the inner tube material. The axial sections of the covering are layers (4,9,12) over each other. For assembly, the tubes slide axially within the covering and the layers (4, 9, 12) are durably bonded together. Layers (4) is of a compressible foam material lying directly at the inner tubes, and also layer(s) (9) is of an inorganic foam material as a carrier for an outer protective layer (12). The inner layer (4) is pref. of a non-flammable structured phenol resin covered by a layer (9) of a foam based on aluminium silicate. The outer protective layer is a closed pore foam material of high density e.g. of clinker, a wound metal layer and pref. stainless steel or a porous casting. ADVANTAGE - Assembly gives a prefabricated chimney unit which can be assembled simply and rapidly on site.
