The method od decontaminating a part of a building in which asbestos panels had been used and subsequently removed. A cable duct (11) which was originally enclosed with asbestos panels is decontaminated in the given method. The corner of the room is enclosed by re-usable panels which can be fastened to each other and to the wall to make an air-taight joint. This enclosed space is then connected to a vacuum cleaner which draws air from out of the enclosed space. Any loose particles of asbestos are drawn out with the air and deposited in a nag (19). ADVANTAGE - Reduced risk of dust emissions.
