Data transmission system with controlled transmission characteristic - uses linear and nonlinear digital filters inserted in transmission path

The data transmission system uses a linear phase digital filter (F) inserted in the transmission path, for controlling the damping and phase characteristics. The filter (F) has a finite pulse response. Its filter coefficients are selected to obtain the required damping response. The filter (F1) lies in series with a second non-linear filter (F2) having a finite pulse response with filter characteristics selected to obtain the required phase response. Pref., both filters are inserted in the transmission path at the transmission end. USE - Transmission of digital data signals in limited bandwidth transmission channel. Radio direction finding.
