Measuring rotation symmetrical objects e.g. screws - acquiring digital image, converting to binary form and scanning for binary code changes for effective economical sorting
Measuring pref. rotation symmetrical objects involves acquiring a digital image of the object composed of image points, converting it into a binary image consisting of binary coded image points and scanning the image to determine at least part of the object's outline. The binary image is scanned in a defined direction until a change in the binary code occurs. The points adjacent to the penultimate point of the scan are scanned until a point with the same code is found. The last point coordinates and the direction to the located point are stored and the image scanned in the new direction, etc. until a defined end point is reached. Its coordinates are compared with reference coordinates. USE/ADVANTAGE - Effective, economical sorting e.g. of screws, is achieved with rapid outline determination.
