A bobbin capsule for a multi-needle sewing machine incorporates a thread cutter and a clamp to fix the looper thread after cutting. The capsule features a first spring for producing the looper thread tension, and a second spring, which during the sewing process assumes a position determined by the course of the looper thread. In a second position, the spring receives a slack thread part resulting from e.g. the stopping of one of the needles. During a looper thread movement into the clamp, the second spring can be moved into a third position in which it has no effect on the thread between the bobbin and the clamp. ADVANTAGE - The invention forms a looper thread, withdrawn from the looper thread store of a stopped needle and not used in the sewing cycle, into a limited and temporary thread reserve. The looper thread led to the clamp for cutting is left unloaded to eliminate the risk of the thread being pulled out of the clamp.
