Bituminous concrete mix. with dispersed wire reinforcement - prepd. by adding wire in bundles held together by binder which disintegrates in hot bitumen

A castable hot bituminous concrete mixt. contains a uniform dispersion of steel wire pieces for reinforcement. These are introduced in the form of bundles held together by a binder which loses its binding ability upon introduction with water when added to wet cementitious concrete, and which also melts or softens on contact with the hot bitumen mixt. In consequence the bundles disintegrate during mixing. Pref. the bituminous mixt. is prepd. by mixing at a temp. which is in the range 80-200 deg.C and 30 to 50 deg.C above the softening point of the binder.
