Personnel location system for underground mine

The location system uses a transmitter (1) carried by the person to be located and a receiver (2) carried by the locating person, receiving the electromagnetic waves provided by transmitter. The transmitter (1) also acts as a receiver for the transmitted electromagnetic waves provided by a remote-control transmitter (6). The locating transmitter (1) remains in the reception mode in the rest condition and is switched into the transmission mode upon reception of the remote control signal. Pref. the transmitter (1) uses a min. operating current in the microamper range in its rest state, to prevent drainage of the battery charge.
