Combustion chamber walls (3-6) are lined with the engine running using low heat penetration material specifically by soot-forming combustion of carbon material such as acetylene. This is admixed at intervals to engine fuel, combustion air or fuel/air mixture. USE/ADVANTAGE - I.c. engines.
