MR data are acquired from at least one localised vol. within a vol. of interest during magnetic resonant testing by exposing the patient to a high static magnetic field and presaturating the enclosing vol. so that only the vol. of interest remains unsaturated. At least one localised vol. is selected by applying gradient pulses defining origins of free induction delay or FID signals, applying HF pulses with the gradient pulses present to generate FID signals in the localised vol. and processing the FID signals to obtain data. ADVANTAGE - Enables increased image resolution or reduced measurement periods.
