Instrument to create and evaluate artificial telephone traffic - comprising characteristics, controls, voice frequencies, audible signal on multiple channels controlled independently in parallel
A central processor (1), working in quasi-parallel real-time mode, sends messages via a serial interface (S1) to a switching unit (2), comprising address codes defining a controllable interface (7.1..7.n) and operation codes defining criteria or control signals to it. A microcomputer system (4) in the switching unit (2) cyclically interrogates the interface (S1) for messages, which are decoded according to the programme memory (10) to create an example digital signal for the data memory (11), which is cyclically read out via a multiplexer (13) and a controller (12). The last two bits define the interface (7.x) choice as analog or digital, the remainder defining the signal to be simulated, which is then created in the chosen interface (7.x) and via the exchange under test, connected to a further interface (7.y). Voice frequency measuring signals are sent via a programmable attenuator (3), a coupler (5), and the interface (7.x). The received signals from the interface (7.y) are coupled via the same means and the computer (4) to be evaluated by the processor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simulates all sorts of telephone traffic on multiple channels independently.
