Increasing computer system operating speed - using buffer and cache memories and instruction flow organisation to access main memory at speed approaching cache access speeds
The computer system with a central unit (12), and main (14) and cache (16) memories contains a buffer memory (20) of equal size to a main memory cell. Row information read sequentially from main memory is stored in the buffer. Information in the buffer is sequentially passed to the central unit and cache so that in a period in which a process is loaded into the cache, information in main memory is accessed at speeds approaching cahce access speeds. USE/ADVANTAGE - Computer system is organised using cache memory and instruction flows to achieve shorter processing times at relatively low cost.
