For medical applications and use in a transfusion or infusion tube etc. a connector is produced consisting of a plastic body with at least one bore connected by at least one hole to the medical tube; it has a closure piece which tightly seals another hole and is made of another plastic material with greater elasticity than the first. The prod. is made in one single mould by injection moulding in two successive stages; one of the parts is made first and is left in the mould, whereupon the second polymer is injected; in the first stage the volume of the cavity filled is that of the second shot of material and by means of the use of shaped tools, and the second stage uses the first moulded shape to form the suitable final shape. Pref. polymers are (a) polypropylene for the first shot and (b) thermoplastic elastomer for the second shot. ADVANTAGE - The two-part mouldings are produced cheaply and in high quality.
