A process is claimed for the prodn. of an EPDM substrate (I) for a window pane runner (guide), together with a polyurethane sliding layer on the glass sliding face; the novelty is that (I) is extruded with a primer layer on the sliding face, consisting of a polymer mixt. or rubber mixt. contg. 40-80 wt.% NBR, 20-60 wt.% EPDM and 0-35 wt.% SBR, then a solvent free-PUR coating material is applied to the primer to produce a layer of PUR which is crosslinked at the same time as the substrate is vulcanised. A velvet finish coating is produced on the sliding face of the substrate by subjecting the PUR layer to a flocking process before crosslinking/vulcanisation opt. in a grooved runner with a velvet coating on the bottom of the channel and a PUR sliding layer on the lips of the channel. USE/ADVANTAGE - Window pane runners are produced efficiently with a shortened prodn. line.
