Photographically aiding automatic pig carcass dissection - by half tone analysis of areas in half-section replacing heavy and imprecise carcass dissection methods

As an aid in dissecting half-carcases of slaughtered animals, esp. pigs, a photograph is taken of the section and in conjunction with picture processing hard and soft ware and video technology a representation is made of the spinal column, fat layer and muscular tissue, together with the fat/meat ratio. Half tone analysis is used to determine optimum cutting paths for dissecting the carcase, and as a generalised aid to classification the position of the sixth lumbar vertebra is established. Precise parameters for morphological investigation are also obtd. ADVANTAGE - Replaces heavy and imprecise methods in fully automatic carcase dissection.
